The country's biggest car maker Maruti Suzuki India on Monday reported 27.4 per cent decline in car sales during November at 47,103 units compared to 64,885 units in the same month last year.
The company said its domestic sales increased by 0.7 per cent at 56,411 units as against 56,000 units in June last year. It said the A2 segment, comprising Alto, Zen Estillo, Wagon R and Swift registered a marginal growth of 0.3 per cent at 37,767 units, against 37,646 units in the same month last year.
The company has proposed to launch the 'made-in-India' car in the next three years. Given its nascent engineering strength, the Indian auto co is looking at existing platforms. The company will, therefore, save a fortune by not opting for a completely new car platform. Generally, the cost of developing a new platform constitutes a substantial part of the expenditure incurred on a new car's production.

The company had sold 1,58,076 units in March last year, Maruti Suzuki India said in a statement. Domestic sales declined by 46.4 per cent at 79,080 units last month as against 1,47,613 units in March 2019, it added.
The company said its domestic sales increased by 14.6 per cent during the month at 64,143 units, against 55,952 units in May last year. Hyundai Motor India Ltd reported on Monday a 47.27 per cent jump in domestic passenger car sales at 24,510 units during May, against 16,643 units in the corresponding month of 2007.

Passenger vehicle wholesales saw a marginal growth of 4 per cent in June on account of high base effect and muted demand due to severe heatwave conditions in several parts of the country. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning to invest around Rs 18,000 crore on a new manufacturing facility in Haryana, as per a top company official. The new plant would replace the company's Gurugram-based facility and is expected to have an installed production capacity of 7.5-10 lakh units per annum.
